“the lighter you are, the easier it is to fly”
I came across an article about ‘living lightly’ and it piqued my curiosity . Turns out it was about living green and leaving the smallest possible carbon footprint on the planet. Interesting…but it got me thinking about other ways to live lightly?
“we want to be seduced by carefree and fun loving souls”
By my definition, living lightly, means living an effortless life. So no extra luggage is permitted (except what fits in the overhead bin on the plane). Grudges, regrets, jealousy, past injustices and all of that negative emotion baggage that weighs us down, has to tossed out the window and forgotten. If we are going to seduce life, we need to be appealing to it. And that negative crap, we carry around is ugly to the bone!
“it is what it is…and what it is, is pretty damn good”
When things go wrong (or did in your past), accept it. It is what it is and pretending otherwise is not in your best interest. Let it go. Some things you just can’t do anything about. It has happened and the only course is to let it go or if possible take some positive action. Why let it weigh you down, now and in the future. Get over it bucko.
“don’t stand in the way of your own sunshine”
Be optimistic to the point of being happy for no darn reason at all. Now that is sexy. Assume that life is on your side and some how things will work out. Odds are good that this will become a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you look for it, maybe you can find a profitable reason for your misfortune or at least a lesson.
“be kind and life will be kind to you”
Yeah, even the universe believes in reciprocity. Be kind to everyone and everything (including the dirty homeless guy begging for change and grumpy waitress who is being run off her feet). Being a slow learner, I confess I wasn’t always kind to things. Since I am slightly more evolved now, I am much kinder to the environment than in my careless youth. And what about the things in my life? Why this morning, I was kind to my car and gave it a bath. It’s still shinning it’s approval at me, right now.
“laugh at everything, until the guys in the white coats come to take you away”
I’ve always believed that you haven’t earned the right to laugh at others until you can laugh at yourself. Some of my best stories that amuse my friends, are tales of my misfortunes. By laughing at my own stupidity, it takes the sting out of it. And for some dang reason, it pleases the heck out of my amigos. Ah, but little do the know that I’m just banking up points so that I can mock them in return…(which I do at every opportunity)
“you have a purpose on this planet, even if it is just to have fun”
Now that you know that, you can let go of the worry. Worry is a heavy sucker and butt ugly to boot. If purpose hasn’t found you, here’s the good news…just chose one. Take it for a trial run, if it feels good, keep it. If it feels wrong, take a vacation. That’s your reward for trying. The universe’s store of opportunities, never closes. You can always pick another one. Right now my purpose is to finish my book and annoy my friends. As soon as the first one is done…I’m taking a vacation! (the second one is a life long pursuit)
“life was meant to be fun, easy and over-flowing with abundance”
Ok, that wasn’t a quote from some wise guru, I made it up. However, I’ve read many times that beliefs tend to become self fulfilling prophecies. And I am believer! The very reason my book will exist is because of that belief. It does make me feel lighter, every time I think about it. Which to me is a very light seductive thought.

"I'm a seducer not a fighter"
One if the most persistent metaphors for success, is that of a warrior. It sure sounds noble to charge out there and conquer life. To overcome every obstacle and defeat any foe. To never back down from a fight. Through sheer will, to impose your intentions on the world. To make life, submit to you. The problem is that for me and most of you, it just doesn't work. For we are the lovers not the fighters. The good news is....
"it is far easier and a lot more fun, to seduce life, than it is to try and conquer it"
As epiphany's go, this is one my favourites...to seduce life. I'm a big fan of seduction. The whole idea gets me jumping and pumping with joy. To seduce something or someone, is to get what you want given to you freely and lovingly. Admit it, wouldn't it be great to have success and happiness, given to you, instead of having to take it or conquer something? Now that is a seductive thought!
"nothing is good, bad or funny, but thinking makes it so"
Before all of you warriors come looking to impose your will on me, know this. I am ok with you guys. I really don't care how you conduct your affairs. It's just not for me and my tribe. While you are out conquering your worlds, we seducers will be out seducing ours.
"warriors compete and seducers create"
To a warrior, life is a competition, that they must win at all costs. To a seducer, life is a game that is to enjoyed and savoured, win or lose. To a warrior, happiness is delayed and then celebrated with every victory. To a seducer, happiness is in the process, it's a game silly! Sure there is an extra jump for joy in the winning of our intended. However, it would be a hollow victory, if the game (life) was not enjoyable. What would be the point?
"what would it benefit us, if we conquered the world, but didn't have any fun doing it"
Seducers don't see the point in delayed happiness. That would be like delaying sex until you got old! Life is too important to be taken seriously. Warriors as you know, are very serious on the road to victory, seducers not so much. In fact seriousness is terminal to our happiness. If you do see us being serious, it is probably just a game we are playing to mess with a warriors mind. (Big secret....we love messing with warrior's heads)
"life is the only game, where everyone get's to make up their own rules"
The reason so many people think they need to be warriors, is because that is what they were taught by well meaning; parents, teachers and self-help guru's. It is one way to win, but it is not the only way. I will attempt to show you an alternative, that is more fun and a lot easier. Great seducers love the idea, that they get to make up the rules and amp up the fun. Seducer's love surprise and unpredictability because as my friend John Crocker says...they are as flexible as a breeze!
"you deserve pleasant surprises and gifts, so that is what I promise"
Like most of us, you were probably taught, that life is hard and difficult....and then you die. It is time for a change of pace and direction. Time you joined us seducers, who believe that life was meant to be fun, easy and over-flowing with abundance. You choose...
P.S. When I use the term seducer, I mean it as both a male and female description. It would be just too cumbersome to keep referring to seducer/seductress. (and I am far too lazy for that)
pssst...if you really like this stuff or if you just want to annoy your friends, just click on the Facebook button below and help me spread the word. Or failing that, you can buy me a beer (I'd be cool with that too)

"I don't do hard and difficult and neither should you"
Five years ago, I sat on a beach in Mexico and contemplated my life. The truth, that I had never expressed to others was that, I was not all that happy with my life. So asked myself, how would I like my life to be? A few cold cervesa's later, the answer came back...
"I want my life to be fun, easy and abundant"
The more I reflected on that wish (honest no more cervesa involved) the more I started to believe that fun, easy and abundant, is how life was meant to be. So I made the decision, to make it a belief. Yeah, I know that flies against logic, but then I don't do logic very well. The idea fired up my creative juices, so I set out to prove that I was right and all of those philosophers throughout the ages, that preached that life is hard and difficult and then you die, were morons.
"Books on happiness are boring"
I immersed myself in hundreds of books to research the nonsense, that I called my thesis. I bought so many books, that the big chain bookstore sent me presents at Christmas. I started out consuming books on happiness. Big mistake! Most of those books are writted by well meaning soul's with academic backgrounds. They can't resist writing as if their book was being reviewed by their old English professor. It's in their DNA I suppose, to be informative and boring at the same time.
"so lucky for you...I wrote the book and left out the boring parts"
We remember best, what greatly interests us and what makes us laugh. I figure I've now read over 1,000 books in my life. I've come to realize (ok, I'm a slow learner) that the author is asking a lot of you. I'm not just talking about your hard earned cash but also your time.
"why this book doesn't suck"
School is out and I ain't going back! No English teacher is ever going to be permitted to grade my writing again. I can break all of the rules and I do (with great joy). I have some bold and refreshing thoughts on making life...fun, easy and abundant. I guarantee, this book is full of enough inights and goofy stuff, to get you thinking and laughing.
"we are all born naked and screaming, let's hope it never changes"
See, I can put in something totally unrelated to the subject, just because I think it will amuse us.
Should you buy this book?
I dare you to flip through the pages of this book. Stop anywhere, read one short entry and if it makes you laugh, think or both...buy the dang thing! If it bores you, kindly put it back on the shelf and please don't tell the next person.
Smile, we are big kids now, and can do anything we want!
