Laughter is there nothing it can't do?

"Rock a bye lady
you just paid more
so happy and relaxed
inside  of my store"

Ok, I'll admit to being a pretty crappy song writer but be careful about your purchases when you are as my little ditty says...happy and relaxed.   The reason is that when you feel that way you will pay more for a product or service.

When researchers tested very relaxed participants as to what they would pay for a product or service they found that those who were relaxed over-valued items by on average 15%.   This was compared to participants in the study who felt equally pleasant but not as relaxed.

Here's a relaxed environment the brain does not perceive a threat.   This alows for thinking more about the positive benefits of a product or service.  It's then easy to think at an abstract level about how the product or service might be used to your advantage.

A less relaxed person is more likely to focus on the features and measure them against the price.  Thus they are more critical in their purchase decision.  They are on guard against what they might deem as any sales pressure.   The relaxed person because they feel no threat are open to suggestions.

So Guru how do I take this to an even higher level in my business?

Glad you asked grasshopper.    First, let me ask you a question.    When are you most relaxed?   If you said, when I am laughing you win the big prize.   The big prize is more sales, better persuasion and more success.   Pretty good prize huh?

Now you know that if you can make them laugh the door to endless  opportunities is wide open.   Boring kills sales.   Laughter is directly proportional to success.   And this my friends is your big advantage because while others are trying to win over customers with professionalism, superior product or lower price you will be laughing all the way to easy street.

A decent boldness

"years from now it won't be the things that you did that you will regret the most, it will be the things you didn't do"
If you are anything like me, I'll bet there are many instances when you look back on your life and say to yourself....dang I wish I'd done that!

So what keeps us from doing the things we know we should or we know we would like to do? Mostly fear, sometimes procrastination and many times we are just a little too timid. The cure.....a decent boldness!

I say decent boldness as opposed cockiness or arrogance. A decent boldness is a reasoned decision with a slight risk taking element to it. And I say boldness as opposed to using a word like courage. Courage is a difficult word. It brings back associations for a lot of people of things like when you were bullied as a child. Sometimes you can be a little lacking in courage and still find some boldness.

The good news is that boldness kicks the crap out of fear and procrastination.

Here are just a few examples of ways you can use boldness to your benefit;

*speak out when you feel an injustice
*take the first step to start a friendship
*share a thought or idea
*ask for help
*take a chance
*try something new
*ask for a raise
*ask for forgiveness
*start something new
*make a suggestion
*write a comment on a blog
*start a business

The list could on forever, a decent boldness is all we need to change our lives for the better. And as Virgil said...fortune belongs to the bold! We can find great fortune if we have the courage and character to make bold decisions.

"It's an exciting time for those with a decent boldness"

Over a hundred years ago Goethe wrote: "whatever you can do, or dream, you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it" Smart guy.

Now if I might be so bold as to ask a favor of you...please pass this article on to someone else who might benefit from it. Just hit the f button below....thanks!

"we are born into greatness and then programmed into mediocrity"

I had a conversation with a friend this morning in which we discussed among other things, the way we are programmed first as kids and then as adults. We reached the conclusion, that it is no wonder we have so many messed up minds on this planet. The programming we usually receive is negative and very limiting.

"we are not born stupid or ignorant you have to watch a heck of a lot TV to get that way"

Driving home I pondered what it would be like if we could find a grumpy negative person and kidnap them for the purpose of deprogramming. You know that kind of person who is always complaining about some injustice and yet does little or nothing about it. Sure it's illegal to kidnap someone against their will but it would be for their own good?

"a positive attitude may not solve all of your problems, but it will annoy enough people to be worth the effort" (Herm Albright)

The purpose of the deprogramming session would be to make them aware that they have been running on automatic (or even worse operating on someone else's thoughts and not their own). To make them conscious that life can be fun, easy, and over-flowing with abundance. By the time we were done with them they would leave with a big goofy grin and be laughing and dancing their way down the street.

"light travels faster than sound, that is why some people appear bright until they speak" (unknown)

They would become super positive people willing to take on any worthy challenge. And as new converts I think they would be trying to convince others of the merits of their new found happiness and if not, then recommend them for deprogramming as well.

Now that is what I call a great daydream!

P.S. I've even heard of people who were programmed to cheer for the New York Yankees and some to even cheer for the Toronto Maple Leafs......isn't that sad?

My latest 'get rich quick scheme'

"The quickest path to making a little money is to have a good mentor but the quickest path to real wealth is to steal a really good idea "

Those crazy researchers at Standford University have come up with another gem. If you are a computer geek we need to talk.  We could make a fortune on this one!

Here is what their research revealed; when they studied sedentary people (that's code for couch potato's) they found that an automated phone call to remind you to exercise had about the same (get up and go) power as calls from human counsellors. Think about that? We are just as motivated by a machine generated message as one from a qualified expert.

Just think of the possibilities? We could sell little motion activated message machines to mothers that they could install in little Johnny's room. When Johnny retreats to his room the machine would nag him to clean his room  just like the real Mom does. I'm sure Mothers around the world would gladly buy our machine to do the nagging for them!

Next thing the woman of the household would want is a programmable husband nagger machine. 'Take out the garbage, cut the grass and don't be late for supper' are just a few of the pre-programmed messages on our machine (in a very sweet voice of course).

Now before I incur the rath of women all over the planet, let's get serious. What does this latest research really tell us? I'm thinking that whenever we tackle changes in our lives we need support, encouragement and reminders. There are huge opportunities for those with the technical expertise to assist those who want to lose weight, quit smoking or become more successful.

Encouragement is addictive and pleasing to all of us.

This is something we knew so well when we are kids, however as we get older we forget just how important it is. It is so much easier to critize and find fault. I wonder if anyone really ever got nagged to success?

So what should we do with this knowledge? First, let's surround ourselves with positive; images, sayings and people. Let's feed our brains with encouragement making sure there is more good stuff going in that crap.
The problem is that our minds tend to wander almost half of the time.   Mind wandering trouble happens when you let your mind run wild on the negative stuff.   Worrying instead of planning.   Ruminating instead of dreaming.   We need constant reminders to keep us on track.

Maybe you would like to get a daily, automated phone call from Guru Eduardo, telling you what a wonderful person you are and reminding you to (fill in the blanks)________________. NO? Well, then how about, from someone you deeply admire and respect?

Smile, I have more dumb ideas than you have money!

Secret persuasion techniques

Imagine that you are at this tropical beach.   It is a beautiful hot day with a gentle breeze off of the ocean.   You are warm, relaxed and peaceful.   The sun feels sooo good on your body.   You are totally contented and happy.

Now think about me the writer.    How do you feel about my personality?   Odds are that if you really allowed yourself to imgine being in that hammock on the beach that you will feel better about me also.   Just by imagining being warm and relaxed improves your feelings about me or anyone else you immediately come into contact with.

So why am I telling you this?   Because the feeling of warmth is very seductive.  If you want to persuade someone to your point of view or buy your product or service you should always try to warm them up first.

I'm not saying that you should bring them pictures of tropical beaches (but it might help).   There are many ways to warm up a person.   Here are a few...

Give them a hot drink.    Researchers found that even just holding a hot drink (without drinking it) caused people to feel warmer towards others.   They also found that when people were given a hot drink they became more generous and more likely to give to others.   So you want your sweetie to do something for you, give them a hot drink first.

A warm handshake warms up you both.    Now if you live in a cold climate location you need to ensure that you warm up your hands before shaking hands with someone.   If you are going to introduced to someone and if you can discretely warm up your hands you are going to perceived much better.  Just rub your hands together rapidly.   They won't know why but they will instantly feel a closer bond with you by shaking a warm hand.   Cool huh?

Who doesn't love a good hug?   Sadly there are a very few who don't like to be touched but not many.   The problem is its not a good idea to hug people you just met.   But if you are going to persuade someone you know and you can safely hug them they will melt in agreement.  Just thinking about this makes me want a hug?

A great smile will warm any heart.   You've got so use it!   It's darn near impossible to resist returning a great smile.

Warm words.   Reaserchers found that when bell hops went to carry bags from a room for guests that if they mentioned it was a beautiful sunny day their tips increased.   Just talking about a sunny day was enough to warm up the other person.   So words matter.   Oh by the way did I mention its going to be a beautiful sunny day today?   And how would you feel about buying me a Baileys and coffee?

And finally....

That's right....its good to have beautiful sunny images to warm you up and your clients.

Now that I've warmed you up to my ideas, would you like to buy a great book?

I have a gift for you

More specifically it is a technique, one that will get people to do things for you that they wouldn't normally do for others. It is very powerful idea that has been tested and proven effective. I should charge you something for it but since you were kind enough to stop by my site (and I like you) I'll be only to happy to share it with you! Please use it with discretion.

Let's imagine that you arrive at a busy restaurant, a airline ticket booth or a hotel and you would like something extra. Perhaps you would like a better room or a better seat by the window. Here is a special phrase you can use that will get you surprising results. Please make sure you use the exact phrase.....

I don't know if you have the authority
or the power but I need a favor.
Can you help me (then give your request)

Here is why it works...

What it is really saying is, if you can't help me, then you have no power or authority. It also becomes a challenge. When they do help you they then think to themselves, that you think they have power and authority. This makes them feel powerful and good. Also, asking for a favour is very hard to refuse. Together they are a powerful mix.

This powerful technique can be used for many different things besides getting a better seat in a popular restaurant. Use your imagination?

So friend, I don't know if you have the authority or power but I need a favor?    Would you buy me a beer?

New Years Resolutions....the no fail system!

Hold onto your shorts because here are the statistics based on research...

92% of Americans (I assume Canadians are no better)  don't achieve their New Year's Resolutions! YIKES.....makes me wonder if its worth even trying.

But wait there's more.....those 8% who reach their goals are NO happier than 92% that don't.   Sheesh going through all that suffering and sacrifice and you are no happier?   Makes you wonder doesn't it?

The most common goals are; weight loss/fitness, money and career advancement.

Researchers also tell us that what makes us happiest are experiences and not things. So I have an idea?

Instead of trying to sell 10,000 copies of my book or make a million.... my resolution is to increase the fun that my clients, readers and I have. How can I lose? I'm going to be a winner no matter what and so will my readers and clients.   (I know what you are thinking....if that Guru lightens up any more he'll float off the planet)

Here are some more ideas under consideration;

1. Spend more quality time with my friends and family (especially the good looking ones)

2. Take more vacation time

3. Spend more time in nature

Yeah I like roughing it too!

well you get the idea, I'm going to set myself up so that I will be one of the 8% that succeed.    Not only that I'll be happier than the rest.   Every step I take towards my resolutions will make me happier.   Since there is no specific defined goal, its the journey that will be appreciated and not just the destination.

Every time you laugh, chuckle or scratch your head in mock disbelief at what I write or say...I'm succeeding!

Oh, and I'm also making a resolution to slow down and savour every last drop of Mexicano cervesa.  Matter of fact I think I'll go get a head start on that resolution right now!

Help me put an end to the hard and difficult way that people go about making New Year's Resolutions...just hit the f button below and share this with your facebook friends.   It will make all of us a lot happier....thanks!

Sleep learning for lazy people

When a woman says to me...'in your dreams Eduardo', little does she know that if I want I can make it happen.   You see I've learned to be a lucid dreamer.   I can manipulate my dreams.   What this means is that I can create happy endings in my dreams.   It's a very nice skill to have.  Now before you write me off as a 'dream pervert'  what I really want to tell you about is how to learn while you are sleeping, solve problems or come up with ideas.   Sounds interesting, right?

We used to believe that the brain rested and was less active when we slept.   Not so.   Researchers now believe that when we sleep the brain continues working to try and make sense of what we experienced during the day.   Only recently have they concluded that we can learn while we sleep.  And I'm not talking about those silly subliminal tapes.

Here is one method

Imagine you are trying to learn a new language.    Just before you go to sleep you review some new words or phrases.   You read them over a few times and then its sweet dreams.   Your drift off to slumberland and your brain takes over reviewing the last imput you gave it.   In the morning your review what you went over last night.   That's it and it works.

Now imagine you are looking for a solution to some problem.   Write the problem out and keep it within reach along with paper to write out your solutions.  Before you nod off you review the problem and go over every thing you know about it.   Then drift off and in the morning write down anything that comes to you.   Also, if you wake up in the middle of night with some great idea you absolutely must write it down before going back to sleep.   Trust me on this its vital because I've had really good ideas but couldn't remember them in the morning.

It takes practice so don't give up because it doesn't work the first time you try it.    Give it a week and you just might be pleasantly surprised.

I just read that those that sleep on the left hand side of the bed tend to be happier and more positive  than the grumpy souls on the right hand side.   So don't show this article to your partner!   No sense starting a fight over who gets the best side of the bed.

Pssst....if you know some lazy people who need to smarten up then hit the f button below and this article will go to your facebook friends.

Better than drugs

"I'm so good at singing, even the dogs can't resist joining in"

I just read an article based on research by the American Association of Science, that found singing rewires damaged brains. They are now using singing to make it easier to communicate for those who damaged their brains. Apparently its easier to sing than talk for these people. This has huge benefits for people like me. I'm thinking of all those brain cells I destroyed when over indulging in my favorite beverage. Wahoo....I can fix those poor brain cells with a little warbling.

And that's not all...

There is much more! I quick search with Mr Google and the list of benefits of singing is mind blowing. Look at this partial list;

* exercises your lungs

* increases creativity

* boosts immune system

* improves sleep (maybe not for those listening)

* reduces or eliminates; anger, depression and stress

* it makes my amigos laugh (sometimes uncontrollably, which is a great form of exercise, for them)

And that's just a fraction of the benefits of singing. Heck, it can even help those with Parkinson's Disease, regain balance. Is there nothing singing can't do?

"if singing were a drug we could patent, we would all become billionaires"

Too bad its free, and you don't even have to be good at it. Best of all, when I really want to annoy my son, I just start singing. In no time I have the house all to myself....isn't that wonderful? Yep, it really moves him.

Smile, singing when done right (or badly) will bring you peace and serenity!

Pssst....if you like this hit the f button below and share it with your facebook friends!

The Art of doing nothing

The art of doing nothing
I know I make this look easy! However there is a fine art to doing nothing. People who know me, would say I have mastered it. But wait amigos.....did you know that....

"Free time is the mother of inspiration"

So while I may appear in this picture to be doing nothing, behind the scene my brain is open to receive whatever great inspiration the universe wants to send me. Why, I was prepared to sit in that position soaking up nature as long as it took to feel inspired. So in doing nothing I was being highly productive.
This is not as easy as it looks and actually takes a little practice to master. It is imperative that you have peace and quiet. No one is allowed to disturb you in any way while you waiting for inspiration. Sounds good so far, right?
The only part that takes effort is to control your thoughts. No negative thoughts are permitted. You should think of your thoughts as being like water, let them flow away. Don't try to retain or dwell on anything. Yes, it is a form of meditation.

"time is precious, waste it well"

I find it works best in a tropical location unfortunately it works just as well anywhere in nature, while going for a walk, taking a shower or a bath. Just empty your head (some think I do that well too) and let the inspiration in.
Those people that don't know that you can think without talking have no idea what they are missing...

"the time you enjoy wasting
is not wasted time"

The most important seduction skill

“it’s not who you know, it’s who you know that likes you”

Odds are you are going to be a flop in the game of life, if you don’t master this skill! If you want to have any hope in seducing life, this it. The good thing is that you can master it (if you haven’t already). Yes, of course I am talking about likeability.

“if you weren’t born beautiful and talented life will still be kind to you, if you are highly likeable”

Being likeable having an unfair advantage over others. The likeable, tend to get the best jobs, have more friends and better relationships. And this doesn’t even scratch the surface of the benefits.

“ can you think of anyone who was ever seduced by an un-likeable person”

You might be convinced through logic and persuasion to do someone’s bidding but never will you be seduced if you don’t find them at likeable. Let me give you an example of the importance of being likeable. Awhile back, I read of a study that was done to determine the likeability of the U.S. Presidents. In every case since the advent of television, the candidate who was deemed by the public to be the most likeable person (by the public) won each election. How is that for powerful…

“it isn’t the choices we make about other people that makes life fun, easy and abundant, it’s the choices they make about us”

Need more convincing? Here are some more benefits that the likeable people get:

*Doctors give better care and more time to the patients they like (which of course means they live longer and experience less pain)

*They inspire others to give more

*They are viewed as being more trustworthy (a pretty good skill to have if you want to sell something)

* Likeable students get more attention and better grades

* We forgive them quicker for any misdeeds (I could use that one)

* They get better service and better deals from businesses.

“you don’t have to be likeable to succeed anymore than you have to be smart, but unless you have something against having an advantage, it sure helps”

There will always be the foolish few, who actually prefer to go it alone. Their attitude is…I don’t need other people to make it. I admire a person with principles but that is a dumb one. If others want to help me and make my life easier and more fun, I say welcome aboard friend.

“likeable people are happier than others, a coincidence…I think not”

Now that we have established that the most important skill in the seduction of life, is to likeable, the obvious question is how? I’ve done a ton of researching and applied my limited brain power to provide you with some answers. And that’s a whole lot of what my book is about.

So keep reading and I’ll share some fresh insights. I might even go into more depth than the ever popular method of ….buying the first round.

Comedian philosophers

Watching the politicians lie and embelish so much of the time makes me doubt every thing they say.  Lately I've been noticing that I get more truth from commedians like Jon Stewart and Bill Mahr.   How did this come be?

This also got thinking to myself, where are the philosophers? Who are todays version of Plato and Socrates? Well amigos I found a group of people who qualify and they are the comedians. If you don't believe me, check out some of things they had to say and even though some are funny, see if you don't agree with me...there is wisdom!

Robin Williams (my personal favorite)

"if women ran the world we wouldn't have wars, just really intense negotiations every 28 days"

"see the problem is God gave man a brain and a penis, and only enough blood to run one at a time"

Groucho Marx

"time wounds all heels"

"I must say that I find TV very educational. The moment someone turns it on, I go read a book"

Jack Benny

"age is strictly a case of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter"

Bob Hope

"if you haven't any charity in your heart, you have the worst kind of heart disease"

Bill Cosby

"a word to the wise isn't necessary, it's the stupid one's that need the advice"

"every closed eye is not sleeping and every open eye is not seeing"

"sex education may be a good thing in schools. Just don't give the kids homework"

"women don't want to hear what we think. They want to hear what they think, only in a deeper voice"

Woody Allen

"it's not that I'm afraid to die, I just don't want to be there when it happens"

Rosanne Barr

"of course men are better at reading maps. Only the mind of man could conceive of one inch equalling a hundred miles"

Erma Bombeck

"never lend your car to someone you gave birth to"

George Best

"I spent all of money on booze, fast cars and women. The rest I just wasted"

Will Rogers

"the only time people dislike gossip, is when it is about them"

A new super hero

"Common sense is so rare it should be considered a super power"

Before you write this off as another of my wacko ideas consider the abilties of my new super hero...Common Sense Guy. I hope you weren't under any delusions that common sense is common?
So here are some his special powers...

1. Able to go undected to the general population for extremely long periods of time.

2. Able to see through the bull crap of politicians, greedy corporate guys, narcissists, snake oil salesman (sometimes disguised as motivational and success money grabbers) and delusional fanatic religous types. Hell he can see through anyone's phoney baloney for that matter.

3. Has the ability to think and act independantly. To go against the flow with ease.

4. Is not constrained by fashions, fads or silly rules.

5. Is not considered normal and doesn't give a damn.

I'm sure with your help we can come up with more special powers for 'Common Sense Guy'. Ok, just to be clear there is also 'Common Sense Gal' (this is where I really had to bite my tounque and not insert a joke lest Common Sense Guy lose his powers).

So then this got me thinking of what would be Common Sense Guy's kryptonite? Well that's easy...

I'm sure there is more kryptonite but its easy to see why common sense is so rare. There are so many factors working against it? And as if that wasn't enough arch enemies out to destroy 'Common Sense Guy or Gal, there is the most deadly of enemies? Oh yeah this enemey makes the others look like Boy Scouts or Girl Guides.

This enemy of common sense is so lethal because you never see him coming until its usually too late. His victims even after he takes over their lives still don't even know of his presence. Once he has taken over few survive. Like a narcotic he makes his victims feel so good they feel omnipotent. Why I've seen good sane likeable people turn into blathering idiots under his influence.

Any guesses?

Ok, I won't keep you in suspence any longer....his name is...

Self Delusion

Did you happen to see what he did to Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan? How about James Arthur Ray? And he really did a number on all of those Middle East dictators. It's impossible to debate the power of the evil one...Self Delusion?

We've all at some time wondered why common sense is so rare. As that radio guy used to say....and now you know the rest of the story!

Psssst.....just in case you might have thought you saw some resemblence between me and our hero 'Common Sense Guy'....well as my friends will tell you....that would make no sense and be downright silly!

Got a problem? Just borrow some brains!

Just imagine how smart we would be if we followed the advice we give others?

Have you ever been stuck for a solution to your problem?   Well, of course we all get stuck at times.   However, have you ever considered the possibility that you may be just tying too hard?   Procrastination gets a bad rap and deservedly so, but when you are stuck try putting the problem out of sight for as long as you can manage without causing a problem.

Something magical happens when you pack away the problem and then come back to it with fresh eyes days, weeks or even months later.  I know that when I write sometimes I will think to myself...what I've written isn't worth the paper it's written on.   Then I will come back to it days or weeks later and have some great ideas to improve it.   Fresh eyes!

Don't like your problem then trade it in for someone else's problem.

Researchers found that we are more creative problem solvers when we have distance ourselves from the problem.   A friend has a problem and you have the answer, this happens frequently.  Sometimes we are just too close to the problem.

So imagine if you said to a friend or co-worker, let's trade problems for the day.  I'll play with yours and you can play with mine.  It's a lot less stressful to work on someone else's problem then on your own.   Your fresh eyes might find the solution surprising quick.

I just did a job for Westjet where I submitted a lot of  creative ideas to improve customer relations.   I am no airline expert and yet I could see opportunities that they couldn't.   Why is that?   Because I am an expert at one thing in the airline industry...myself as a customer.   I am happy to say that they have already implemented my ideas.

What about your imaginary friend?

I created Guru Eduardo initially as a cartoon character.   It amused me and became an excellent way to flex my creative muscle.   But something unexpected happened from the creation of my alter ego?  When I pretended to be Guru Eduardo my writing got more creative.   My thinking  wasn't restricted by who I normally think I am.  Well, truthfully I've been doing this for so long now that I'm not sure where the Guru stops and Ed starts anymore.   It's become who I am now and who I am now is a lot more creative than who I was.   Ahhh.....I'm starting to confuse myself...time for a drink!

Touch it and you'll pay more for it

"When you touch an item you are more likely to buy and more likely to pay more for it"

Every successful marketer and  beach vendor in Mexico knows that if they can put something in your hands the odds of a sale happening go up!   This is why they say...go ahead try it before you buy or take it for a test drive.    Once  the item and your brain make a connection they want to bond.    The longer you are in possession of something the harder it is to put it back.

Touch plays more roles in decision making.   For instance how something feels; soft vs hard, warm vs cold and rough vs soft affects how you perceive others.  So if you go to someone's office or business and they put you in a warm, soft and comfy chair and feed you a nice hot coffee....lock up your wallet or purse.   Your resistance will begin to melt like an ice cream cone on a hot August day.

Even weight can influence you.   In one study human resources folks rated job applicants as superior to their competitors if they studied the resume on a heavy clipboard.   The heavy clipboards made participants rate public isssues such as the environment more deserving of funding.  Subconsiously we rate heavy as more serious.

Making your client feel safe, warm, comfortable and secure is what I call priming the sale.  This is  similar to an  idea I wrote of earlier about selling on sunny days.  The objective is make the client feel good or as one brilliant writer said...seduce them.  (Ok that was no brilliant writer that was me).   Of course if your product or service is crap no amount of priming will help.   You can't prime a dry well!

It always amazes me to discover that by being kind, generous and  considerate to others  leads to more success.   I think I should have called this article.....'Priming Profits By Pampering'   Now go out and touch someone (ok in a respectable way).

Seduced by smells

“Waking up to a smell is a lot more satisfying than waking up to a noise. Instead of barging in uninvited and yanking you out into reality, smells enter your dreams with a silent knock and a polite "Excuse me?”
Adi Alsaid
Poets and writers have waxed eloquently about the beauty and attraction of scents.   But now business wants in the fun.   Scents are being used by some companies to manipulate you into buying or doing what they want you to do.   Scents are also being used to make you more generous and  be more trusting.   Politicians are even getting in on smell manipulation.

Some smells you need to know:

Windex.....the smell of citrus scented Windex has been shown to cause people to be more generous with their time and money towards noble causes.   The cleaning aroma also encourages people to be more honest and fair to deal with.   I guess it must stimulate the desire to be 'squeaky clean'.  Just thinking.....shouldn't court rooms and police stations have a nice clean lemony clean smell?  Someone should do some research on that?

Tropical day all travel agencies will smell like the tropical resort they are peddling.  And why not it kindles that desire to go to one.   Some resorts even use specific smells throughout the resort so that when you smell it, you are reminded of the vacation and likely to want to return.  Just thinking.....resorts should give you some going away gift with their scent embedded in it.  Or, when they do magazine ads they could put the scent in it.

Ok, that's just two examples but now that I'm onto smell seduction ideat I will do some more research.    Hey maybe I can find that scent that will make me totally irrisitable to the ladies?   Nah, cancel that.    It might turn out to be the smell of money?

How to read and sell a person

Imagine if you could read when someone is lying to you?   Imagine if you knew how to present materials so that it would be more believable to your clients?   Well this is your lucky day because I'm going to give you one more tool for your success toolkit.

First, lets discuss how to read if someone actually feels strong about what they are saying.

The hand they gesture with gives away their true beliefs.   A right hand person will gesture with their right hand when they feel strong about something.   They will then gesture with their left hand when they don't believe strongly in what they are saying.    For a left hander it is just the opposite.

President Obama is left handed so next chance you get to see him giving a talk watch which hand he gestures with.    If he believes in what he is saying he will want to gesture with his left hand.   If he is not in belief with what he is saying he will gesture with his right hand.  It is an inborn reaction that we favor our dominant hand.

The world is dominated by righties so our cliches are based on the right hand thinkers.  That is were the expression....'my right hand man' orginates.   Or conversely why we say...'he dances like he has two left feet'.   Right is right and left is wrong (unless of course you are left handed).

Now lets discuss how to present materials in a way that makes them want to buy.

Right handed people prefer things on the right hand of the page.   When they view two similar choices their tendency is pick the one on the right hand side.   So if there are two similar job applicants or two similar products on a page they will tend to pick the one on the right.   The opposite is true for left handed folks.  Simple right?

Let's imagine that you have two products displayed on a table or counter.   Which side would you put the product you want the client to purchase?   Oh, you're so smart!  Of course this assumes that you've actually been observant enough to notice whether the person is right  or left handed?

You don't have to take my word or the word of the researchers who test this stuff try it out yourself. You may never be baffled by a politicians BS again.   Well, let's not carried away those dudes have been practicing deception for decades.    But even the most deceitful occasionally give away tell tale signs if you are alert to the signs.

Oh, and if you sell more products because you now know how to display them to owe me a beer!

How to plan the perfect career

"To do what you love, are good at for which there is a market demand is the fastest, easiest path to living a dream"

I sure wish I'd seen this when I was just starting out!   It would have changed everything.   But the beautiful thing is that as long as we are still breathing, its not too late.

As I've studied this it occurred to me that one thing was missing.....the willingness to do what makes you uncomfortable.   Those who won't go out of their comfort zone are destined to be frustrated and waste their opportunities.   Think of the writer who produces a beautiful novel and then refuses to get out and promote her book?   Or the techie who writes a program that could change lives and then sits at home waiting for someone to discover them and their product?   Well, you get the idea.  Somewhere along the path to living the dream you will have to do things that make you uncomfortable.

And for those who occasionally lament our past mistakes, a word from my friend Eric Yoda Wallman....

"It is better to have learned and lived than to never have learned at all"

Naked bodies boost brainpower!

I thought that title would get your attention!

The things you find in psychology blogs amaze me.   But this one floored me.   Apparently when you view images of naked women or men depending on your preference, it stimulates more than you might think.   Yes kids, it stimulates your brain and increases your ability to process information.

Makes me wonder what the boss would think if you were looking at some lovely naked bods at work?  It's not that you are a pervert its just that you want to be able to perform better for the company.   Yeah, that's not going to work!   So here are some office acceptable alternatives to get smarter on the job...

Peppermint acts as a stimulant to the brain.    The scent cruises through your nervous system on a path to your brain and the result is increased alertness and memory.   If you read my previous article on chewing gum then it makes perfect senses to chew peppermint gum during the big test or when you need to do some clever work.

Java junkies benefit from their morning fix with increased alertness, concentration and problem solving ability.   And they get the extra bonus of a release of dopamine (one of  the bodies feel good chemicals) into their system.   So coffee drinkers are smarter and happier BUT...yes, there is a but, it only lasts for around 45 minutes.   This explains why you shouldn't even try to communicate with some people until they've had their morning coffee!  My son is like that, he's not ready for the human race until he's got his morning coffee fix.   One more thing, it works in the afternoon as well (but you knew that right?).

Protein Snacks

Protein snacks such as nuts and seeds are excellent brain boosters.   They stimulate your brain cells to keep you alert and awake (most managers really like that in their staff).   It also keeps the growlies away.   So you have my permission to GO NUTS!

You are smarter than you think

I expect you all to experience a burst of brilliance with these handy dandy tips I'm sharing.   So when you are rich and famous remember me?

One last thought...

For some strange reason I can't get the first tip out of my skull, you know the one about the pictures of naked bodies?     Well here's what I've been thinking....the study used pictures and managed to stimulate the brain (and other things).    But what the study didn't test was real live naked bodies.   So I've been thinking....maybe I should use myself as guina pig.   I would be willing to let beautiful naked women walk around my desk to see if it gave me a bigger burst of brilliance than normal.   I know what you are thinking?    You're thinking that Guru Eduardo is willing to do anything to advance the science of brainpower boosting, right?

Pssst....leave a comment but just the bare facts!

I'll take that bet!

"If you are going to bet on anything, bet on yourself to win"

I've read research that shows how making a bet increases your odds of losing weight or getting fit.   In one study dieters who bet cash lost 13-14 pounds over 16 weeks.  That's quite impressive.    It immediately reminded me of when I quit smoking many years ago.   I had a bet with my roommate at the time for $50 on who could quit smoking.   $50 way back then was equal to about two days work.   That was a bet I was not going to lose especially to my cocky friend.

Several months went by and I kept thinking to myself, I'm amazed, I didn't think he had the willpower.  Then one day I drove up to the back of our apartment and there was the little jerk smoking his brains out.  Truth is he didn't last a day but didn't want to pay the bet.   Too bad for him, that night I went out and partied with his $50.

So I know betting on yourself can work.   What other bets could you make?   Lose weight, get fit, increase sales, write that book?    Or, if you are a manager or business owner you could have a bet with your staff to reach some goal.

Betting guidelines..

*  Those betting have to believe its achievable
*  Be specific as to exactly what must be achieved
*  Remember if one of the goals is to break a bad habit and start a new one, it takes between two weeks and two months to form the new habit.
*  Write it down
*  It's supposed to be FUN

Done properly betting is a game where everyone can and should win.

Why it works:

1.  It's a game and people like to win games.
2.  It takes the focus off of the willpower required and puts the focus on the prize.
3.  We don't like to lose

So you don't think it will work?   Wanna bet?

The real reason I wrote my book

"The main reasons for writing  a book is take yourself on a self journey of discovery or to have something to brag about"

Today a guy I barely know was asking me about my book.   After a brief discussion he asked me, 'why did you write your book?'   Then it hit me that no one had ever asked me that before.   I of course knew precisely why I had written the book but it didn't seem to come up in conversations.

So why did I write the book?   Glad you asked.    I wrote the book because I wanted to know all the ways to make MY life fun, easy and abundant.   I was convinced that I was doing most things the hard way.   Once I started searching  for ideas to make life fun, easy and abundant, I started finding answers.   Soon it turned into a passion.   I just need to know if some small change could make a big difference.

I was at a comfortable stage and yet unsatisfied with where my life had gone to.   You know that little nagging thought that you could and should be doing better.   That feeling in the pit of your gut that somehing was missing?

"I once read that almost everyone wants to write a book but only a very small group ever get beyond the talking about it stage"

When I stumbled upon my 'Seducer' theory everything started coming together.  The logical next step  was to write the book.   I'd like to be able to tell you that I worked my tail off and sweat bullets writing the book but that would be fairy tale.    No it was fun!   Ok, not exactly easy but fun.   I just used some of the theories I write about in my book to get it written.

No matter what happens in my life I know I will always be committed to continuing the search to find fun, easy ways to attract abundance.   It's in my DNA now.

If you haven't already read my book let me tell you, that the only reason to do so is if you tired of hard and difficult and want to look at new possibilities.   If you are one of those people who only have a cell phone because they quit making rotary phones, then my book is not for you.

Pssst....I am afflicted with a buring desire to write the second book.  It will take my 'Seducer' theory into the business world.   Yeah, I'm exploring all the ways to make, easy and abundant.  Stay tuned... will notice in the days to come that my blog will get more active and that the articles will pertain more towards business success.      So you'll get a preview of what is to come or at least the first draft.
